The Governing Principles of Ancient China - ‘Qunshu Zhiyao 360’
Some 1,400 years ago, Emperor Taizong of the Tang dynasty (598-649 AD) ordered senior officials like Wei Zheng to compile a collection of books on imperial governing principles from classics and history books, and to extract the most important lessons related to the cultivation of oneself, management of family, good government, and ways to bring about world peace. And yet Qunshu Zhiyao is still too voluminous for today’s political readers to read. Hence, 360 essential excerpts on major topics are selected to compile a series of “Qunshu Zhiyao 360”, which have been translated into different languages and are widely circulated all over the world. This is the greatest contribution by traditional Chinese culture to the world by offering wisdom to resolve conflict, and restore peace and stability to the world.
